Building a Bridal Budget for Decor

Bridal Budget

You're Engaged!

You’re engaged! Congratulations!

After you’ve told all your friends and family the great news and stared at the ring all day, it’s time to dream about the wedding. You’ll go on Pinterest® to pin your favorite photos and start looking for a venue. A great way to get started is to find a Wedding Checklist and start setting your budget. Here’s a sample from The Knot.

Here at Event Décor & More we have some advice for you when you start planning for your wedding.

We’ve had many brides come in at different parts of their planning process and have learned when the best time to start planning your decorations for the big day. The best time to come in to the store is after you’ve found your venue. Once you’ve decided on the venue and know what all is included, you can start looking for ways to decorate the place and personalize it to your style. You can come in to our store to get some inspiration from our decoration and we can create a quote for you to help with your budgeting. It’s best to put down a deposit on your rentals as soon as possible as this guarantees the items will be reserved for your wedding day. You don’t have to worry though, even after the deposit we can adjust to your guest list and can change things around.

We partner with numerous DIY brides who understand that renting can save them time and effort.

DIY is a great idea and can be a way to save money. However, you need to weigh the cost as sometimes the materials and time spent creating weighs more than renting.

You don’t have to worry though, even after the deposit we can adjust to your guest list and can change things around.

DIY is a great way to add your personal touch to the wedding and infuse the personality of you and your fiancé(e)’s.

Budgeting brides don’t realize the impact of their decor and they shortchange their entire wedding on by spending too much too fast.

The first few months can easily go through the budget with the cost of the venue and of the wedding dress. From then on, they are cutting back costs on using less flowers and less decorations. What you need to remember is that all the gorgeous wedding photos on Pinterest are using expensive decorations. Articles and blogs these days say the guests only remember the food at a wedding, but the presentation is just as important. All those celebrity weddings you see on Instagram? Do you see photos of the food? Or do you see all the guests raving about the gorgeous decorations? We want you to remember about decoration rentals when budgeting for your wedding.

We want every bride to have their dream wedding and we will work with you to achieve it.

We love working with brides who are looking to create something they’ve seen in magazines and online: specialty fabrics, ceiling drape for venues and tents, decorated canopies and tents, and more. Therefore, if you can dream it we will do our best to find it, make it, or build it. Congratulations again on your engagement and we hope you’ll stop by soon to plan your big day! Be sure to check out some of our past weddings we’ve decorated for some inspiration.

A Word of Caution

A Word of Caution

Event Decor and MoreA Word of Caution

Because we have had an increase in brides and mother-of-brides come to us as a result of online faux-pas we feel it is our obligation to offer a word of caution about ordering online.

You probably have heard of Brides getting scammed by buying wedding dresses online. If the price seems too good to be true, then it is. Online retailers might show you the same images you see on the designer’s website, but more often than not, these photographs are being used without permission, and you will not be receiving the same dress. If you receive the dress, it may be a cheap knockoff version of the gown you fell in love with as you can see in the photo below. We’ve heard of many horror stories from Boutique of Dreams and Carolina Bride and Groom of brides coming in last minute looking for a dress due receiving a knock off one online.Wedding Dress Fake

What you may not realize is that the same thing can happen with your wedding decorations. By buying tablecloths, centerpieces, and other décor you run the risk of receiving damaged goods.

We understand you want to save money. Most of us do; however mistakes may cost you more.  We have acquired new customers because:

  • What arrived was not the color expected.  Never associate a color with a color name because color shades and tints vary widely. (As you can see in the photo below)
  • The purchase did not arrive in time.
  • The purchase was damaged or wrong. (As you can see in the photo below)
  • Just not what expected in size, etc.

We have had customers tell us they bought linens online for the price we rent them in hopes of re-selling them only to discover no one wanted to buy their items OR they did not take into account the shipping costs or labor involved with ironing them before the event and the cost of cleaning them afterwards.  We appreciate those of you who shared this with us so we could spare those reading this future disappointment.

As an avid DIYer I get it.

That’s why we rent to you DIYers.

But come to our showroom where we will set up a mock reception table so that you can see what it will actually look like the day of your event. The pictures on Google and Pinterest are beautiful, but they are often distorted through close-ups and angles.  How will your centerpiece relate in color, scale & proportion to the table size, to the size of the room, and to the ceiling height?

We can help you answer these questions.

Another reason to rent from a local store, is that you will have a phone number of a real person to call should that rare occurrence of an error happen or you discover you forgot something. We have had brides and grooms call us the day before their wedding realizing they needed more tablecloths or didn’t have anyone to set up their decorations.

So before you order something online ask yourself, is it really worth the risk to your once in a lifetime wedding or event?

We have your best interest in mind and want to work with you to give you the most WOW for any budget.
